The Jivaro® brand is named after the Jivaro (or Jivaroan) people, colourful indigenous communities who inhabit the East of Ecuador and the North of Peru. For over 2,000 years, guayusa forms a vital part of the Jivaro’s rich cultural heritage.

We are committed to sharing Jivaro’s ancient heritage with the global community.

So this is how modest a guayusa leaf with superpowers looks like.

Delivery & Pricing

Why does Jivaro® cost more than teas found in supermarkets?2018-03-22T07:22:18+00:00

Unlike other teas, Jivaro® Herbal Tea is made from the rare and exclusive super-leaf guayusa. Jivaro®’s guayusa is grown on a small-scale by indigenous family farmers in harmony with the Amazon rainforest, rather than by huge traditional ecologically damaging plantations. We pay our farmers a fair price. This is why the price of Jivaro® Herbal Tea is higher than the average tea you will find in supermarkets.

But with the unique qualities of Jivaro®you totally get what you pay for.

No. We believe that we do pay a fair price for our guayusa, which is in line with other relevant players that do have foreign fair trade certifications. But because of a lack of sustainable organization at the Level of our Jivaro® suppliers they are not yet able to obtain fair trade certifications.

Is Jivaro® Herbal Tea organic / BIO-certified?2018-03-22T07:23:24+00:00

No. Due to our commitment to increase the standard of living of the indigenous farmers and their communities, we buy our guayusa directly from the small-scale farmers. Although they grow Jivaro®’s guayusa naturally, and thus in line with BIO/organic cultivation practices, our suppliers do not possess certifications. It requires significant knowhow, investments and professionalism to obtain and produce under organic certifications. Our small-scale suppliers are not there yet
